Daylight savings time will go into effect in the United States on Sunday, November 3rd, 2019. Depending on where you live, this may or may not affect your class timing. In countries where DST is not applied at all, class will be one hour later starting November 3rd.

Offered: Part 1 of this course is offered in the Fall term of each year, and Part 2 is offered in the Spring. 

Prerequisites

  1. Students should be women above the age of 17.
  2. ARA 100 or the ability to read Arabic Quranic script

Summary: 

A practical course providing students the opportunity to learn to read the Arabic script and master the skill of decoding the Holy Quran. Students will gain strategies to practice at home and will be able to practice these skills in class with the instructor. 

Course Requirements: Students are expected to attend the weekly online lectures, complete one or more weekly assignments, read the assigned material, and complete a recitation assessment to ensure they are prepared for application of tajwīd rules in level two.

Registration Fee: Non-refundable, non-transferable

Students will have access to course forums, recordings, and files until the first day of the next term.

$100.00 (not including the cost of the course materials)

$20.00 late registration fee after September 7th (if seats are available)

Auditing is not available for the Quran Program.

Course Description: A study of the science of tajwīd accompanied by an instructor-led recitation of Juzuʾ ʿAmma. This is a two-part course:

  1. Students will gain an understanding of introductory tajwīd concepts (including points of articulation - makhārij - and letter attributes - ifāt) during weekly online sessions with the instructor.
  2. Each student will be paired with a certified tajwīd teacher, either online or locally, with whom she will work one-on-one. This part of the course will be complete when the student has read through Juzuʾ ʿAmma with her assigned tajwīd instructor, having demonstrated the ability to pronounce each letter to the standardized and acceptable level.

Placement:

New students in the Ribaat Program must complete an assessment with a tajwīd instructor. Based on that, you will receive a recommendation on the best course for your level inshallah.

Course Description: Building upon concepts taken in QUR 201, students will complete the study of the rules of tajwīd, accompanied by an instructor-led recitation of the second half of Juzuʾ ʿAmma. This is a two-part course:

  2. Each student will be paired with a certified tajwīd teacher, either online or locally, with whom she will work one-on-one. This part of the course will be complete when the student has read through Juzuʾ ʿAmma with her assigned tajwīd teacher, having demonstrated the ability to apply the rules of tajwīd to the standardized and acceptable level. Upon completion, advanced students may begin a recitation of Juzuʾ Tabārak.

Course Description: In the Khitmah Project, students will recite the Holy Quran from Surat al-Fāṭiḥa to Surat al-Nās to their assigned tajwīd instructors, as a preparation and foundation for beginning with memorization. This is a two-part course: 

  1. Students will attend a weekly online session with the instructor to follow up on their progress and learn about the wonders of the Holy Quran. 
  2. Each student will be paired with a certified tajwīd teacher, either online or locally, with whom she will work one-on-one. This part of the course will be complete when the student has read through the Holy Quran from cover to cover with her assigned tajwīd teacher, having demonstrated the ability to apply the rules of tajwīd to the standardized and acceptable level.

Course Requirements: Students are expected to attend the weekly online lectures, read the assigned material, and recite the assigned amount with a Ribaat tajwid teacher.

  6. Students enrolling in this course must have a firm understanding of the rules of tajwīd.

Course Description: A self-paced memorization course, students will set a personal memorization target each term and recite to a tajwīd teacher. This is a two-part course:

  1. Students will attend a weekly online session with the instructor to follow up on their progress and receive inspirations and tips on memorizing the Holy Quran, achieving effective memorization, and overcoming hurdles.
  2. Each student will be paired with a certified tajwīd teacher, either online or locally, with whom she will work one-on-one. This part of the course will be complete when the student has recited the amount agreed upon at the start of the term, having demonstrated the ability to apply the rules of tajwīd to the standardized and acceptable level.

Course Requirements: Students are expected to attend the weekly online lectures, read the assigned material, and recite the assigned amount with a Ribaat tajwid teacher.
